What is WWOOF?
WWOOF stands for World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms and is part of a world-wide effort to link volunteers with organic farmers. Founded in the United Kingdom in 1971, it reached Korea in 1996 and has been operating ever since. 'Exchange` is a key word, and volunteers help hosts 5-6 hours per day in exchange for food and accommodation while simultaneously sharing their own cultures and views.
¡ºG-20 WWOOF Program¡», provides you an opportunity to visit distinctive villages in rural areas in which you will be helping out with daily work in the farm, experiencing various kinds of activities or even spending time with the locals. It allows you, through total immersion, to get a full understanding of Korea, 'land of morning calm'.
*Sponsored by the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Korea and Korea Rural Community Corporation, G-20 WWOOF Program will be launched from July 28 providing opportunities for WWOOFing & Cultural experience for foreign visitors in celebration of G-20 Summit scheduled to be held in Seoul in Nov 2010.
What are the features of this program?
Foreign candidates, up to 20 per week, are grouped into teams of 4 to 5 people and led to each village, in which the program will take place.
You can choose from our 4 different host villages holding different colors of the G-20 WWOOF program: Naetgang Village in Inje, Oeam Village in Asan, Handemy Village in Danyang, Sweet Village in Changwon, each having colorful activities such as learning to create and ride your own authentic raft, hiking in the mountains, everyday sports and sharing with the local children, wandering around in the reservoir in the wetland, home of many species of migratory birds, or even experiencing Korean traditional culture like wearing costumes, cooking original food, and making artcraft in the preserved folk village. Plus, last day is a free one-day tour to historical or social places nearby.
